Ava Graves, Memories, 2025, Mixed Media

Memories is a sculptural installation of photographs falling from a picture frame, gradually shifting from vivid color to black and white. The cascading images evoke the way memories fade and lose their clarity over time, moving from vivid, immediate experiences toward distant and fragmented recollections.

The work explores the passage of time and the impermanence of memory, using the physical deterioration of the photographs as a metaphor for the way moments that once felt vivid can slowly become indistinct.
